Torreya Cummings
MFA Thesis
Wherein the nameless protagonist accidentally drives her pickup into the disco, a Western.
This project may be summarized as an attempt to draw a loose analogy between the process of settlement of the American West, and the evolution of the Gay Liberation Movement,
with some discursive side-trips into the space where history, fiction, and memoir intersect. Then again, maybe not. It begins:
This is not queer tragedy. This is a glittery, genderfuck hostile takeover of the Wild West. This is a usurpation of time and space. This is a perverse fascination. This is a love poem.
